- Have a child who is either:

- An Australian permanent resident, or
- An eligible New Zealand citizen.
- Meet all applicable visa conditions and follow Australian law
- Have a sponsor
- Meet the balance-of-family test
- Meet the health requirement
- Meet the character requirement
- Have the assurance of support
- Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
- Have a child who is either:
- Activities in Australia you can undertake: With this category of visa you can-
- Come and stay in Australia permanently
- Work and study in Australia without any restriction

- Enroll in Medicare
- Travel to and from Australia for 5 years

Yes, you can apply for a Parent visa (subclass 103) as a retiree if:
- On 8 May 2018, you held or had previously held an Investor Retirement (subclass 405) visa or Retirement (subclass 410), and
- You have not held any other substantive visa between 8 May 2018 and the date you applied for the Parent visa
2. Do I need to meet the balance-of-family test to avail of the Subclass 103 visa?
Yes, to avail of this subclass of visa you must meet the balance-of-family test. You meet the balance of family test if:
- At least half of your children and step-children are eligible children, or
- There are more eligible children living in Australia than in any other single country
